Next to the Rotermann Quarter, on the fourth floor of the Golden Gate building, we were able to create a headquarters for an organization whose mission is to spread the Estonian e-government experience around the world. The needs of the e-Government Academy were clear – the space must accommodate both private office work and an international training center, while creating an environment that embodies the enthusiasm of the Estonian digital society.
The logical division of the space into two wings – an office zone on one side of the building, a conference center on the other – determined the functional backbone of the project. We wanted to create an environment that speaks of the eGA identity: a future-oriented flowing movement, Nordic clarity and the rustic warmth that is characteristic of Estonia.
The interior architectural concept was born from the harmony of contradictions. The rough innovativeness of the digital world is softened by natural materials and warm colors. Curved lines and flowing forms create dynamism, supporting the organization’s mission to promote digital transformation in the service of the well-being of society. Inspired by the architecture of the Golden Gate, a golden glow permeates the space, creating a visual connection with the building’s facade.
The views of the Old Town, the harbor area and Rotermann are not just a backdrop, but part of the spatial experience. They frame Tallinn as a modern urban space, where history and future go hand in hand. This is also exactly like eGA’s mission, which combines Estonian experience with a global vision.
The result is a work environment that embodies the essence of e-government: innovative but not cold; digital but human; international but true to Estonian roots.
