The buildings of the old fish factory on the banks of the Pärnu River had been waiting for a new life for years. What was once the heart of industry had become a crumbling ruin in the heart of the city center. Our task was to breathe new life into this valuable place.
How to transform a depreciated industrial area into a high-quality urban space while preserving the historical character of the area? The planning area contained the buildings of the former fish factory, which were half-dilapidated, and the task was to create a modern living environment there that respects the surrounding environment.
We created a concept where three 2-3-story apartment buildings form a system of viewing corridors from Suur-Jõe Street directly to the Pärnu River. The buildings are designed with articulated volumes, creating the impression of smaller apartment buildings, which fits perfectly with the surrounding Riga suburb environment.
